Westminster, MD, Tuesday, January 14, 2025 – The long-awaited Freedom Park Challenge Course Playground will officially open to the public with a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Saturday, January 18, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Freedom Park located at 1111 Raincliffe Road in Sykesville. This exciting new addition to the park promises to provide a dynamic and inclusive outdoor experience for children, families, and community members of all ages.

“The Carroll County Department of Recreation and Parks is excited to officially open the new Challenge Course Playground in Freedom Park,” said Bob Hicks, Director of Carroll County Recreation and Parks. “This project would not have been possible without the very generous donations by the Nathan Chris Baker Foundation and the Vakil Family.  The Challenge Course Playground, named Nate’s Place at Vatika, will be a fun and unique attraction in Freedom Park and will be very much enjoyed by our area youth.”

Freedom Park is a 373-acre facility, which has six baseball/softball fields, three multipurpose fields, two picnic pavilions, a concession stand/restroom building, three existing playgrounds, and approximately two miles of walking trails.
